Flight Simulation Competition = 7 July 2012

Dear students,

All of you (19 Sec 1) and (21 sec 2) will be attending the Flight Sim competition on 7 July 2012.

I will arrange a bus at 730 am at SST that day to bring you to SYFC HQ at Seletar. 

As the journey is 1 hour, we will reach there at 830 am. 

Please wait for more details from me nearer to the date.

On 29 June 2012, during our club activity time, I will distribute the consent forms. 
The forms to be returned to Chelsea before the 7th July 2012.

JAC / F50FEP

Mr Tan will be booking the Bus for 20 people on 1 and 7 June respectively.
Meeting time is 730 am exactly, bus will leave at 740 am.
The arrival Time at SYFC is 830 am sharp, for the JAC and F50 Course.
Those who want to go by themselves will have to be there at 830 am sharp.
NO transport is arranged for journey back.

Blogging
All SYFC members are required to keep a blog of photos and diary for every activity. The blog MUST indicate the times (e.g. 2 pm to 4:30 pm), duration (2.5 hours), day (e.g. Friday), and date (e.g. 30 March 2012), Weather (e.g. Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy) and the main activity (e.g. Aeromodeling, Flight Simulation, Aeromodel Simulation, Chuck Glider building, Glider Building, RC control training, RC-plane flying, SYFC programme-SANA etc)   


Leadership
The ranks attainable by all students are as follows:
Cadet Aeromodeller = Sec 1 = Sec 1s will be called TRAINEES  
Junior Cadet Aeromodeller = Sec 2s will be called JUNIOR CADETS
Senior Cadet Aeromodeller = Sec 3s will be called SENIOR CADETS (most will get it)
Junior Cadet Pilots = Sec 4s will be called CADET PILOTS (provided that you get promoted)

The promotion criteria for Sec 1 to Sec 2 are as follows:
Trainee to JCA

1. Passed Basic CL Aeromodelling Course
2.     Passed Junior Aviators’ Course
3.     Achieved Bronze Award in Total Defence
4.     Participated in C130 FEP
5.     Attendance – at least 75%

The promotion criteria for Sec 2 to Sec 3 are as follows:
JCA to SCA
1.     Passed Intermediate CL/Basic R|C Aeromodelling Course
2.     Passed Flight Leaders’ Course
3.     Attended two of the following:-
  1. SANA
  2. Civil Defence
  3. Murai Camp visit
  4. Heritage Badge
  5. Achieved Silver Award Total Defence
4.     Passed NaPFA.
5.     Participated in F50 FEP.
6.     Attendance – at least 75%

The promotion criteria for Sec 3 to Sec 4 are as follows:
SCA to JCP
1.     Passed Advanced CL / R\C Course
2.     Leader for JAC/Flt Ldr Course
3.     Participated in helicopter FEP
4.     Attendance – at least 75%
JCP to SCP
1.     Passed Aviation Instructor Course
2.     Organise  visits etc at school level
3.     Assist in organising Inter-schools and National Aeromodelling Competitions
4.     Appointment Holder in School YFC
5.     Attended OBS/Confidence/Mt Ophir/Leadership Course.
6.     Attendance – at least 75%


NYAA
NYAA Bronze consists of 4 major sections:
(a) Skills - as fulfilled by participating in the club activity over at least ½ year
(b) Adventure = 2D1N

SYFC Camp for Sec 2  (2012)

Description:
The purpose of this LOS2 trip is to train our students to be a responsible student to the self, the community and the nation.

To be responsible to oneself is to be able to develop the interest and skills in Aeromodeling and take the hardships of survival training at the age of 14. To be responsible to ones’ community is to provide service to others in need. To be responsible to the nation is to train ourselves well so that we are Physically fit and disciplined to protect our country.

The duration of the trip is about 7 days in December 2012 which costs about $500 and covers all aspects of food, transport and accomodation.

This will fulfil the NYAA award scheme for Bronze.
Adventure: 2D1N, Service: 20 hours; Physical Recreation: 20 hours. TOTAL: 7 days.

Detailed programme for Sec 2:
Day 1: Travel to Batam / Recce at Service Learning site / Purchase of items (svc: 4 hrs)
Day 2: Rock Climbing Course / Paintball Games / Night Trekking (pr: 12 hrs)
Day 3: Kayaking / Abseiling Course (pr: 8 hrs)
Day 4: Service Learning at Orphanage (svc: 8 hrs)
Day 5: Service Learning at Orphanage (svc: 8 hrs)
Day 6: Jungle Survival Program = Orienteering / Camp craft / Bushmanship cooking /
stay in jungle overnight (2D1N overnight camp)  
Day 7: Break camp / Orienteering / Radio skills / Return to Singapore

There are no camps for Sec 1s as they have the LOS1 camps arranged for them already.

SYFC Camp for Sec 3 (2013)

It is similar to the Sec 2 programme except that the sec 3s will be conducting the programme for the Sec 2s the Jungle Survival Programme and will be counted as Service for the juniors.

There is no need for Adventure Programme as the Sec 3s would have completed the OBS 5-day programme.

This will fulfill the NYAA award scheme for Silver.
Service: 30 hours; Physical Recreation: 30 hours. TOTAL: 7 days.

Detailed programme for Sec 3:
Day 1: Travel to Batam / Recce at Service Learning site / Purchase of items (svc: 4 hrs)

New members

Attention all new members! Welcome to SYFC( Singapore Youth Flying Club)!
In this CCA you will learn to do all sorts of things including control-line flying, flight simulator and other various activities.

You will be experiencing what it is like to be an aviator, whether you are the pilot or the engineer. You will be participating in all sort of activities from control-line planes, radio control planes to visiting the SYFC Headquarters and having trips on military planes and helicopters. You will be learning all about what we do as a CCA and you will be learning all about planes and other various arial vehicles and what they do.
